The singer was born on November 26, 1986 in Santa Monica California in the United States of America. She is the daughter of her father Vincenzo as well as her mom Valerie Barba. She and her family moved from Point Pleasant in New Jersey when she was 6. She completed her education at Red Bank Catholic High School, New Jersey. She then attended Catholic University and graduated with an undergraduate degree in architecture. She began playing violin at the age four, and became known as Violin Girl. When she was nineteen she auditioned for the sixth season on American Idol and sang the 1976 hit single Free. But she was eliminated following finishing 16th on the show.
